Burst pipe in Wayne, NJ: bathroom and basement dried, treated, and rebuilt

A burst pipe sent water through a bathroom and down into the basement of a Wayne home near the Willowbrook Mall area. By the time we arrived there was standing water, soaked drywall, and moisture behind the walls that the homeowners couldn't see.

Containment first

We set up full containment around the affected areas before any demolition, so dust and spores from the wet materials stayed out of the rest of the house. Air scrubbers ran inside the containment for the length of the job.

The bathroom

The damaged drywall came out and the framing was opened for inspection — a burst pipe often leaves wet material inside wall cavities long after the visible surfaces dry. We checked for hidden mold, then cleaned and sanitized the exposed surfaces to prepare the room for reconstruction.

The basement

The basement took the heavier damage. Water had reached the concrete floor and walls, so high-capacity dehumidifiers and air movers ran until the readings came back dry. Once the structure was dry, we inspected the framing, treated the affected areas with antimicrobial solutions, and verified the air quality before closing the job out.

Why this job is typical for Wayne

Wayne's mix of older and newer homes sees burst pipes and basement flooding regularly, especially in the cold months when supply lines freeze. The sequence on this job — contain, dry, verify, treat, rebuild — is the same one we run on every water loss.
