What's included
Smoke odor removal that treats the source. We clean or remove the residue holding the odor and run air scrubbers with filtration while the space clears. Before repainting or rebuilding, we re-check so odor doesn't get sealed in.

How the job goes.

Find what holds the odor
A technician inspects the property to find where smoke residue settled: hard surfaces such as walls and ceilings, and porous material such as carpet and upholstery. Duct interiors get checked too. The odor continues until that residue is removed.

Remove what can't be cleaned
Some materials keep releasing odor no matter how they're treated, such as burned insulation and saturated carpet pad. Those come out rather than getting treated in place.

Clean the surfaces that stay
Remaining surfaces are cleaned to take the residue itself off. That includes duct interiors, since odor returns quickly when the HVAC pushes air across residue that never got cleaned.

Air scrubbing
Air scrubbers with filtration run during the work and afterward, pulling residue particles out of the air while the cleaned space clears.

Re-check before repainting
Odor sealed under fresh paint or new drywall is hard to fix later. We re-check the space once cleaning is done, and if a material still holds odor, it gets cleaned again or removed before any rebuilding covers it.

The smell came back after repainting
Paint applied over smoke residue hides the discoloration, not the odor, and the smell works through in time. The residue has to come off before the paint goes on, which is the order we work in.
Odor that gets stronger when the HVAC runs
Moving air across residue inside the duct runs carries the smell into every room the system serves. Cleaning the duct interiors is part of the job, not an add-on.
Weeks of open windows with no change
Ventilation clears the air that's in the room. It doesn't touch the residue in walls, ducts, or fabric, so the smell rebuilds as soon as the windows close. It stops once the residue is removed.
A small fire that left a whole-house smell

Does homeowners insurance cover water damage?
Usually, when the cause was sudden and accidental: a burst pipe, a failed water heater, an appliance hose that let go. Policies generally exclude damage that happened gradually, like a slow leak that ran for months, and outside flooding needs a separate flood policy. When we inspect, we document the cause of loss carefully, because that is the first thing the adjuster reviews.
Do you bill my insurance company directly?
Yes. On covered water, mold, and fire claims we bill the carrier directly, so you are not fronting the cost and waiting for reimbursement. You pay your deductible and we settle the rest with the insurer, supported by the photos, moisture readings, and drying logs adjusters ask for. A claim is not required to hire us — many of our residential jobs are paid by the homeowner.
Why does soot need professional cleanup?
Soot is acidic and keeps etching finishes the longer it sits on them. It also travels — through the house and into the HVAC system, which redistributes it every time the blower runs. We clean residue from surfaces and contents with methods matched to each material, and the ductwork gets addressed so the system stops recirculating what the fire left behind.
Will the smoke smell ever come out?
Yes, if the source is removed. Smoke odor lives in the residue coating surfaces and absorbed into porous materials, so spraying air freshener over it fails. The fix is cleaning or removing what holds the residue, then scrubbing the air. Masking the smell is not part of our process; removing its source is.
