Every town page lists the drive time from us, measured in normal traffic. Most of the map is within about 45 minutes of our Totowa base, and the farthest towns are still same-day for emergencies.
Passaic County, NJ →
Strauss Restoration works from Totowa, which makes Passaic County our home county and our fastest response area. The flood history here is documented back more than a century: the basin's 1903 flood of record put 11.4 inches of rain on Paterson in a single day, and Ida's remnants in September 2021 sent the Passaic River into streets in Paterson and the city of Passaic. Emergency response is same-day, six days a week, and we bill insurance carriers directly on covered claims; no claim is required to hire us.

Totowa is home base. Our shop is at 999 Riverview Drive, so a crew and its drying equipment start out minutes from every street in the borough.

Pompton Lakes is about twenty minutes up Route 23 from our Totowa shop, where the Ramapo, Wanaque, and Pequannock valleys come together. The river gauge at the Pompton Lake dam has been recording floods since 1882.

Bergen is New Jersey's most populous county, 70 municipalities in 247 square miles, and most of its flood history follows named streams: the Ramapo at Mahwah, Ho-Ho-Kus Brook and the Saddle River through Ridgewood, Paramus, and Fair Lawn, and the tidal lower Hackensack at the county seat. High ground like Fort Lee gets runoff and building losses instead of river water. We cover Bergen from Totowa, 15 to 30 minutes away depending on the town, with same-day emergency response, six days a week.

Essex County, NJ →
Essex County starts about 15 minutes from our Totowa base. The Third River runs through Montclair, Bloomfield, and Nutley on its way to the Passaic, and Ida's remnants pushed it into homes and basements in the downstream towns in September 2021. West Orange sits on higher ground, spanning the First and Second Watchung mountains. Montclair and Bloomfield in particular are largely pre-war towns, and their plaster walls and stone foundations take longer to dry than newer construction.

Morris County has enough repeat flooding that the county itself buys flood-prone homes: its Flood Mitigation Program has purchased more than 80 of them since 2012 and returned the lots to open space. Sussex County, NJ →
Sussex County is New Jersey's northwest corner, and many of its neighborhoods sit on lake shores. Lake Mohawk and Highland Lakes began as summer colonies, and the cottages there were winterized into year-round homes whose lower levels run damp near the water. In August 2000 a storm centered near Sparta dropped more than 14 inches of rain, and four dams in the area failed. From Totowa we come up I-80 and Route 15. Emergency response is same-day, six days a week.

Our Hudson County coverage is Jersey City and Hoboken, about 35 minutes from Totowa by Route 3. Jersey City drains through a combined sewer system with 21 permitted overflow points, and Hoboken is low enough that its stormwater has to be pumped out at high tide. Heavy rain can put sewage-mixed water in basements in either city, and we clean that as contaminated water under the IICRC S500 standard.
