Water Damage Restoration in Ridgewood, NJ
Call (551) 414-6202 and you're talking to the person who sends the crew, not an answering service. We ask what happened, tell you what to shut off, and give you an arrival window. Ridgewood is about 20 minutes out for us.
The village's floodplain program lists five streams with floodplains: Ho-Ho-Kus Brook, the Saddle River, Goffle Brook, Diamond Brook, and Sprout Brook. During Ida in September 2021, the Saddle caused most of the damage in Ridgewood, flooding homes along both the brook and the river and forcing some evacuations.

What we see in Ridgewood
The housing stock, the terrain, and the drainage in Ridgewood all change how we plan a job. Here's what we run into:
The housing stock
The Victorian and early-1900s houses near the village center have plaster-on-lath walls, and a wall like that can still be wet inside after the surface feels dry. We track the drying with moisture meters and hold off on repairs until the readings come back dry through the full thickness of the wall. Finished basements are standard in the newer sections.
Getting to you
Route 208 gets us to the village in about 20 minutes. Parking runs tight near the station and the downtown blocks, so we stage on the side streets, protect the walk path in, and keep the sidewalk clear while equipment runs.
Water & drainage
The USGS publishes stage-by-stage flood-inundation maps for the Saddle River where it passes through Ridgewood, keyed to the gauge on the river. The mapped blocks follow the brook and river corridors, and those are the addresses we ask about first when a storm is forecast.
Process
What happens after you call.
Every water loss runs the same way: we ask what happened on the phone, extract the same day, verify the drying with meters, and keep a documented file your adjuster can work from. Here's the short version. The service page covers each step.
- Inspect and map the moisture
- Contain the work area
- Extract the standing water
- Dry the structure
- Clean and treat
- Verify dry and document
Common problems
The problems we're usually called about.
Roof leak during a storm
We tarp the opening first so no more water enters, then extract and dry the rooms below. Wet attic insulation holds water against the ceiling drywall and usually has to come out.
Sewage backup in a floor drain
Backups are Category 3 water under the IICRC S500 standard. Keep people and pets away from the area. Our crew works in protective gear, removing the materials the sewage soaked and disinfecting the area with EPA-registered products.
Ceiling stain that keeps growing
The source is usually a bathroom or a pipe run above the stain. We trace the wet area with a thermal camera before cutting, so only the section that is wet gets opened, and we confirm the leak is stopped before drying starts.
Water heater leaked in a finished area
A failed tank empties onto the floor and keeps drawing from the supply line until the valve is closed. We shut the water and extract, then meter the surrounding rooms, because water spreads under flooring beyond the wet area you can see.

- 01
Call us
We answer, ask what happened, and get a crew moving. Same-day emergency response on active water.
- 02
We document everything
We take moisture readings and photos and write up a scope of work before drying starts, so your adjuster has the file from day one.
- 03
We bill your insurer directly
We work directly with your insurance company on covered water and mold claims, so you're not fronting the full cost and chasing reimbursement.

Plenty of our jobs are paid directly by the homeowner, and after the free inspection we'll say which way makes more sense for the damage you have.

FAQ
Questions we get most.
What should I do in the first few hours after water damage?
Stop the water at the main shut-off or the fixture valve if you can reach it safely. If water is near outlets or appliances, cut power to that area at the breaker — never stand in water to do it. Move what you can to a dry room. Then call (551) 414-6202. The sooner extraction starts, the more of the structure and contents we can save.
How fast can you get here?
We dispatch the same day you call, six days a week, from our base in Totowa. Most of our service area is within about 45 minutes. Tell us what you see when you call — standing water, an active leak, a ceiling coming down — and we will tell you what to do until the crew arrives.
Why are you closed on Saturdays?
We are a Shabbat-observant business, so we close every Saturday. The rest of the week, Sunday through Friday, we answer and dispatch the same day. If water is spreading on a Saturday, shut off the main valve, cut power to the wet area at the breaker, and call us — we respond as soon as we reopen.
The floor looks dry now. Is the damage done?
Surfaces dry first; the layers underneath do not. Water wicks into subfloors, wall cavities, and insulation, where it can sit for weeks. Mold growth can start in 24 to 48 hours in material that stays wet. We check with moisture meters and a thermal camera, and if the readings say the structure is dry, we tell you that and leave it alone.
Does homeowners insurance cover water damage?
Usually, when the cause was sudden and accidental: a burst pipe, a failed water heater, an appliance hose that let go. Policies generally exclude damage that happened gradually, like a slow leak that ran for months, and outside flooding needs a separate flood policy. When we inspect, we document the cause of loss carefully, because that is the first thing the adjuster reviews.

Ridgewood, NJ — Bergen County.
We're about 20 minutes out, six days a week. The homes run to grand Victorians and center-hall colonials near the village center, Tudors and early-1900s homes on tree-lined streets, and apartments above the downtown storefronts. We cover every block, including the village center, the Ho-Ho-Kus Brook corridor, the east side along the Saddle River. Ridgewood is known for its busy village downtown, the 1916 Mission Revival train station, and Graydon Pool, the spring-fed swimming pond the WPA enlarged in 1936.
