Water Damage Restoration in Paterson, NJ

Call (551) 414-6202 and you're talking to the person who sends the crew, not an answering service. We ask what happened, tell you what to shut off, and give you an arrival window. Paterson is about 10 minutes out for us.

The Totowa Avenue side of the city is closest to our shop, and downtown is about ten minutes. On the tight blocks we settle van parking with you by phone before the crew loads, which keeps the arrival window short.

A person answers — not an answering service. Closed Saturdays for Shabbat. Covered claims are billed directly to your carrier.

What we see in Paterson

The housing stock, the terrain, and the drainage in Paterson all change how we plan a job. Here's what we run into:

Water & drainage

Runoff comes down off Garret Mountain on the city's south side while the Passaic wraps the north and east. The flat wards between them drain slowly once the river is above its banks, which is why stormwater studies describe Paterson's river flooding as chronic.

On the ground

The basin's 1903 flood of record happened on this same stretch of river. During Ida's remnants in September 2021, Paterson first responders rescued about 300 people. Near the water, we leave pumps and dehumidifiers running until the gauge falls, not just until the storm ends.

The housing stock

Paterson is one of the most densely built cities in New Jersey, and most of its housing is older frame multi-family. Plaster, plank subfloors, and stacked plumbing hold moisture out of sight, so we open small inspection sections instead of guessing at what a stain means.

Process

What happens after you call.

Every water loss runs the same way: we ask what happened on the phone, extract the same day, verify the drying with meters, and keep a documented file your adjuster can work from. Here's the short version. The service page covers each step.

  1. Inspect and map the moisture
  2. Contain the work area
  3. Extract the standing water
  4. Dry the structure
  5. Clean and treat
  6. Verify dry and document

Common problems

The problems we're usually called about.

Wood floors starting to cup

Cupping means the boards are absorbing moisture from below. Caught early, hardwood can sometimes be dried in place; left wet, it usually needs replacement. We meter the subfloor before recommending either.

A musty smell but no visible water

That smell after a past leak usually means damp material inside a wall or under a floor. Moisture meters and a thermal camera can locate it without opening every wall. The inspection is free, and if nothing reads wet we tell you that.

Toilet or tub overflowed

A clean-water overflow still soaks the flooring and the ceiling below it. If the water came from the drain side of the fixture, it is contaminated, and the materials it touched need disinfection or removal rather than drying alone.

Roof leak during a storm

We tarp the opening first so no more water enters, then extract and dry the rooms below. Wet attic insulation holds water against the ceiling drywall and usually has to come out.

Insurance

We work with your insurance, and we bill them directly

  1. 01

    Call us

We answer, ask what happened, and get a crew moving. Same-day emergency response on active water.

  2. 02

    We document everything

We take moisture readings and photos and write up a scope of work before drying starts, so your adjuster has the file from day one.

  3. 03

    We bill your insurer directly

We work directly with your insurance company on covered water and mold claims, so you're not fronting the full cost and chasing reimbursement.

Your deductible is still yours to cover, and we'll tell you that number before any work starts rather than after. You also don't need a claim to hire us. Plenty of our jobs are paid directly by the homeowner, and after the free inspection we'll say which way makes more sense for the damage you have.

FAQ

Questions we get most.

Why are you closed on Saturdays?

We are a Shabbat-observant business, so we close every Saturday. The rest of the week, Sunday through Friday, we answer and dispatch the same day. If water is spreading on a Saturday, shut off the main valve, cut power to the wet area at the breaker, and call us — we respond as soon as we reopen.

The floor looks dry now. Is the damage done?

Surfaces dry first; the layers underneath do not. Water wicks into subfloors, wall cavities, and insulation, where it can sit for weeks. Mold growth can start in 24 to 48 hours in material that stays wet. We check with moisture meters and a thermal camera, and if the readings say the structure is dry, we tell you that and leave it alone.

Does homeowners insurance cover water damage?

Usually, when the cause was sudden and accidental: a burst pipe, a failed water heater, an appliance hose that let go. Policies generally exclude damage that happened gradually, like a slow leak that ran for months, and outside flooding needs a separate flood policy. When we inspect, we document the cause of loss carefully, because that is the first thing the adjuster reviews.

Do you bill my insurance company directly?

Yes. On covered water, mold, and fire claims we bill the carrier directly, so you are not fronting the cost and waiting for reimbursement. You pay your deductible and we settle the rest with the insurer, supported by the photos, moisture readings, and drying logs adjusters ask for. A claim is not required to hire us — many of our residential jobs are paid by the homeowner.

What should I do in the first few hours after water damage?

Stop the water at the main shut-off or the fixture valve if you can reach it safely. If water is near outlets or appliances, cut power to that area at the breaker — never stand in water to do it. Move what you can to a dry room. Then call (551) 414-6202. The sooner extraction starts, the more of the structure and contents we can save.

Paterson, NJPassaic County.

We're about 10 minutes out, six days a week. The homes run to frame two-families and three-families packed onto narrow lots, brick silk-mill buildings from the industrial era, and larger pre-war homes around Eastside Park. We cover every block, including Eastside, South Paterson, the Totowa Avenue side. Paterson is known for the 77-foot Great Falls and its national historical park, the silk industry that once produced half the country's finished silk, and being New Jersey's third-largest city.
