Fire Damage Restoration in Parsippany, NJ
After the fire department clears the structure, the damage keeps working: soot residue is acidic, smoke odor settles into porous materials, and the water used to put the fire out soaks floors and ceilings. We handle all three, then the rebuild. Parsippany is about 20 minutes out for us.
About 20 minutes down I-80 from our Totowa base, one of our shortest Morris County runs. Parsippany covers a lot of ground, so the street address matters more than the town name when we plan the route and load the truck.

What we see in Parsippany
The housing stock, the terrain, and the drainage in Parsippany all change how we plan a job. Here's what we run into:
Water & drainage
Lake Hiawatha's floodwall along River Drive went up in 1986 and was designed for a 100-year storm; in 2024, residents petitioned the township to extend it. The Sandalwood Drive section drains to a pump station that lifts stormwater to the Rockaway, and a township-commissioned flood study found the station's capacity falls short in large storms, so those blocks can flood in a short, hard rain.
On the ground
During Irene in 2011, the Rockaway River breached the floodwall at lower Lake Hiawatha and residents were evacuated to the elementary school. Ida in 2021 put close to six inches of rain on the township and flooded major roads. When the river forecast is bad, we expect the first calls from the streets behind that wall.
The housing stock
A lot of Lake Hiawatha housing began as summer bungalows and was converted for year-round living after World War II, so small original structures carry later additions, dormers, and finished lower levels. Mount Tabor's cottages date to the 1870s camp-meeting era, and their plaster and tight lot lines call for careful containment and slow drying.
Process
What happens after you call.
We assess the fire, smoke, and water damage separately, then clean up in the order that stops further loss: residue off surfaces, odor at its source, wet materials dried, and the rebuild last. The service page covers each step.
- Safety clearance
- Assessment & written plan
- Water extraction & structural drying
- Smoke & soot cleanup
- Odor removal at the source
- Reconstruction
Common problems
The problems we're usually called about.
Wet floors and walls from the hose line
Putting out a fire can leave a large amount of water behind. If it stays in the flooring and wall cavities, mold can start in 24 to 48 hours. We extract and dry as part of the fire job rather than treating it as separate work.
Smoke damage from a small kitchen fire
Even a fire that was out in minutes can push smoke through most of the house. The stove area may be the only visible damage, but residue and odor often reach rooms far from it. An inspection tells you how far it went, and the inspection is free.
Soot inside the HVAC system
If the system ran during or after the fire, residue is likely inside the ducts, and running it again spreads that residue into cleaned rooms. We check duct interiors as part of the assessment and clean them before the system goes back into use.
Furniture and contents you're unsure about
Some smoke-damaged items clean up well and some don't, and it isn't always obvious which is which. We look at contents during the assessment and tell you what can be cleaned and what should be listed as a loss.

FAQ
Questions we get most.
What should I do in the first few hours after water damage?
Stop the water at the main shut-off or the fixture valve if you can reach it safely. If water is near outlets or appliances, cut power to that area at the breaker — never stand in water to do it. Move what you can to a dry room. Then call (551) 414-6202. The sooner extraction starts, the more of the structure and contents we can save.
How fast can you get here?
We dispatch the same day you call, six days a week, from our base in Totowa. Most of our service area is within about 45 minutes. Tell us what you see when you call — standing water, an active leak, a ceiling coming down — and we will tell you what to do until the crew arrives.
Does homeowners insurance cover water damage?
Usually, when the cause was sudden and accidental: a burst pipe, a failed water heater, an appliance hose that let go. Policies generally exclude damage that happened gradually, like a slow leak that ran for months, and outside flooding needs a separate flood policy. When we inspect, we document the cause of loss carefully, because that is the first thing the adjuster reviews.
Do you bill my insurance company directly?
Yes. On covered water, mold, and fire claims we bill the carrier directly, so you are not fronting the cost and waiting for reimbursement. You pay your deductible and we settle the rest with the insurer, supported by the photos, moisture readings, and drying logs adjusters ask for. A claim is not required to hire us — many of our residential jobs are paid by the homeowner.
What documentation does an insurance claim need?
Photos of the damage before work starts, moisture readings from every affected material, drying logs while equipment runs, and an itemized scope of what was removed and why. We produce all of it as we work, and you get a copy whether or not you file. If a failed part caused the loss — a supply line, a fitting — keep it, because adjusters often want to see it.
